What is an ATP certified OLIVO container?
Olivo has been involved in the development of insulated containers since 1956. All Olivo containers are serialized produced at the Olivo factory in France in line with the 1970 ATP (Agreement Transport Perishables) regulations, under constant quality control and with ATP certification. Further down the page a video/animation is shown explaining the unique features of the Olivo container.
Insulation values and quality classification of ATP containers.
When investigating technical manuals for insulated containers, it’s crucial to find and compare their insulation values. Remember: the lower the figure, the better the insulation value. For example, a value of 0.34 W/m²·K is better than 0.50 W/m²·K
Olivo containers are ATP-IR class certified, which means their coefficient of insulation value remains below 0.40 W/m²·K (a standard met by all Olivo PE containers). Insulated containers with a value above 0.40 W/m²·K, but not exceeding 0.70 W/m²·K, belong to the ATP-IN class (Olivo EPP Boxes).
In compare: Pallet covers, depending the insulation materials and concentrations used, reach a Coef insulation value somewhere between 0,70 and 2,5 W/m²·K.. Which is outside ATP class identification!
Choosing the right container: other points to consider.
Other things to consider when choosing the right container for your operations:
- Using insulation materials of 0.4 W/m²·K and lower does not guarantee that your product (the container) self is of that value. Olivo containers are rotomolded and consist of two parts: the container self and its door or lid. The coordinated parts together form the ATP-IR container.
- Insulated PE-Containers look sometimes remarkably similar (at least from the outside). Between the raw materials used in production, the quality of the walls (thickness and PE quality used) and the density of the insulation foam used between them can vary. This affects the weight of a container. Weight is a key factor in logistic, but it can also affect the quality of the container. Finding the right balance between quality and weight is important. To find the balance, always ask your supplier to present a sample (cross-section) of a container during the quotation discussion. Measure the thickness of the PE walls (inside and outside) and the thickness of the insulation.
- Finally, ask about welding options for PE walls. In case of cracks or breaks due to incidents in logistic operations, it must be repaired as soon as possible! Request a video presentation, and options for maintenance contracts or training of your staff.
Does ATP guarantee the cold chain regs?
Any container that follows ATP standards does not yet guarantee compliance with cold chain regulations. This is all thanks to the additional knowledge of thermodynamic considerations required to follow the correct configuration of the containers. No worries! Olivo has simplified the application of science! More about this later!
To achieve full and reliable functionality, the containers must have some form of energy support. Olivo offers a choice of two energy forms “Eutectic and Cryonic”. The cryonic form itself can be offered in two choices: as a dry ice tray and the dry ice CO2-Siber system. More on this can be found here!
When and where can ATP containers be best applied?
Olivo’s ATP-IR class containers provide a reliable solution for transporting frozen or chilled products in non-refrigerated trucks or vehicles in the last mile of the cold chain.
These containers guarantee the integrity of temperature-sensitive goods and offer optimization in logistics. Consider delivering frozen products to supermarkets more frequently, in smaller quantities. It ensures that chilled or frozen products can be delivered under the right conditions by all kinds of vehicles.
